These stones are all former members of the CD Parsons collection and some of these stones go back 60 years! The stones we will be posting tonight are only a small portion of what we have left from this old time rare gem collection.

Some other new stones (that we do not yet photographed) include an amazingly clean color change magnesioaxinite, a large lovely color change olmiite, large yellow smithsonites from Italy, a few large open-colored sapphirines, a beautiful larger cobalt spinel, fantastically translucent Franklin friedelite, a few large rhodonites, prismatine, new jeremejevites in larger sizes than we’ve had before, and more!

Also of interest is a new large parcel of Russian demantoid garnets. Some of these stones get as big as the 4mm range, but what is a stand out in this parcel is the large number of calibrated stones in sizes perfect for pave setting. Another parcel just back that would be of interest to a jeweler for pave setting is our electric blue hauyne!

Please contact us to find out more about our new stone offerings.

A rainy Super Bowl Sunday seems like a good day to catch our breath and write a report. After being open for 8 days we are behind last year’s sales by a little, this was to be expected with the change in location. Ancient Roman glass jewelry has, as usual, been our best seller behind loose gems. We were fortunate enough to be able to purchase part of an old cut gem collection. This, coupled with a parcel back from our cutter just before leaving for the show, has given us an influx of new and exciting inventory to sell here. We have made friends with many new neighbors here and are excited at the possibilities they may bring. We hope to soon be consigning a parcel of faceted gem hackmanite, highly tenebrecent, from Greenland! We have also been fortunate enough to come by some very nice fluorescent willemite faceting rough and some Mt. Antero aquamarine rough. This summer we also hope to finally restock on rare rough from Mont Saint Hilaire including carletonite! Look for our new eBay auctions of affordable rare gems to begin late February, most auctions will start at just $.99! Some new and exceptional rare gemstones will be posted on our website at that time as well. Until then, happy hunting.

Both materials are extremely difficult to cut. The brucites are not transparent but they have a neat chatoyant effect from the way the crystals are interlocked. These well interlocked crystals is one reason why these brucites were more easily faceted than transparent pieces, these really held together while cutting. We also uploaded two rare, durable painites, and our last sinhalite.
